What Causes Persistent Abdominal Pain And Frequent Urination?

Hello. I have been having frequent urination and pain in my abdomen for some time now. It s been going on for a few months. I went to the doctor about a month ago and was diagnosed with a UTI. I was given pills to take for a week, then I got a phonecall from that same doctor saying they found Strep B in my urine. I was then given different pills to take and completed those. Upon finishing those pills, I noticed that the symptoms still hadn t disappeared. I went into the doctor again and they couldn t find anything wrong with me. They then referred me to a specialist (a urologist). My urologist gave me pills (uribel) to take for 6 weeks to see if perhaps it s just leftover UTI side effects. Well I ve been taking the pills for weeks now and nothing has changed. In fact, it s almost as if the symptoms have gotten worse. Please help me. I m tired of waking up 30+ times in one night just to urinate.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for asking a question at HCM

I will be glad to answer it for you.

Your symptoms explain, your UTI persists

You need to get a repeat urine culture done to see infection persists

Based on the report, you will be asked to repeat the antibiotic course.

I also advise you to minitor your blood sugar levels now and then to see if they are normal. Too much high sugars can cause frequent urination.

If your prostrate is not checked, please check that as well by a prostrate ultrasound,

Hope this helps!

Best Regards

Dr Chaithanya
