What Could Cause Intermittent Sharp Pain In Lower Right Side Apart From Soft Stool?

I began having some sharp pain in lower right side a couple days ago. I have had regular bowel movements, today it became more soft/diarrhea. The pain is worse. And hurts to walk in that area. Hurts when I lay on my left side also. Sharp at times. But dull also.

Hello,

Pain in the lower right side may be indicative of digestive issues since you are having diarrhea and are also hurting. It can also be due to indigestion, IBS, constipation, sprains/strains, appendicitis, ovarian cysts, kidney stones, infections, liver dysfunction, gallstones, hepatitis, liver abscess, etc. You are advised to get clinically examined by a GP, get required blood tests, imaging tests done to detect the pathology causing you symptoms. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected. Get urinalysis (R.E and C/S) to detect UTI.

You can take Spasmol (spasmoproxyvon), one stat when needed, it will help to reduce pain in the right side. Take PPIs, one stat to avoid abdominal discomfort due to gastritis or acidity. take antidiarrheal to prevent loose stools. You are advised to stay away from spicy, oily, hot food. Keep yourself well hydrated. Take boiled home-made food for a couple of days.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
