What Causes Continuous Headaches With Body Aches And Chills?

I became ill on a Friday with a headache, I am a headache sufferer so didn t think too much of it until later in the evening I started experiencing body aches. I awoke the following morning feelin worse with a continued headache, body aches and chills. I drink a lot of water every day so continued. I was a bit nauseated but never vomited. I did not have diarrhea. I had a low grade temp on Saturday of 100.3. I got a lot of rest. Sunday I felt some better but was tired so took the day very easy. Slept good Sunday night. When I woke on Monday I was doing even better so decided to alternate my day by doing some household chores and rest. It didn t take long and I was not feeling well at all. I took my blood pressure and listened to my heart and it was skipping beats and my blood pressure was low at 93/58, 76/59, 82/56, 91/64. In the evening it was 105/63. On Tuesday it was 100/52, 100/56. This morning it is 99/56. I finally got tired of feeling bad and drank a soda with caffeine. I then felt better. I am experiencing heart palpitations as I write this. When I called the doctor s office they said to stay hydrated and rest. I do stay hydrated and I don t feel this is a problem. I have no chest pain but do have a history of Mild Aortic Insufficiency. I have not had an Echo since 2003 to check this problem. What are your thoughts?

Hello,

Low blood pressure and dehydration can cause headache and chills. Take adequate amount of water and fluids. Take food in time to maintain a proper blood sugar level. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight. Stay at rest and take acetaminophen when needed to get rid of fever. You have low blood pressure, and heart palpitations also. You also have a history of mild aortic insufficiency. You are advised to get clinically examined by a cardiologist.

Get all the routine cardiac tests done like EKG, Stress test, CBC, Lipid function test, echocardiography, etc., so that the valves and their functioning can also be studied. If required, you will be advised to get done surgical repair or replacement of the aortic valve to correct aortic insufficiency.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
