Question: As noted in previous question my wife is battling a high HR and low BP. She is following previous advice. We would like to revisit the gym, and work out a little. What kind of exercises can she do with her arms that won't raise her HR. She can't walk vigorously or do much with her legs as she is battling a third TKR in her left knee and which also has an infection. The infection is being treated with Keflex and has been for over a year.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome on Ask a Doctor service!

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that light physical activity is recommendable in such cases.

She can start with light weights in both arms. Aeorobics is another possible option of light physical exercise. But, considering her tachycardia, it is advisable short periods of time (some minutes) and then make some breaks during training.

Yoga is another possible option (with some limitations due to her knee problem), which can help improve her physical performance, without causing tachycardia.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
