Can Fluticasone Cause High Blood Glucose Levels?

Question: I'm type 2 diabetic. Last HGA1C was 5.6 in March. Glucose levels generally test in the 140 range. Been taking Fluticasone for a case of rhinitis. Yesterday blood sugar was 410 postprandial, today 318. Could the medication be causing this?

Flitucasone can do so. You should see your diabetes care provider immediately for addressing this. If you have symptoms such as shortness of breath , chest pain, nausea , vomiting or changes in your consciousness then you should go to the ER because these are some of the signs of a dangerous complication of diabetes called DKA. ( diabetic keto acidosis). It can be life threatening if not treated quickly.
