Question: I have a bladder problem and after treatment 2 times for a yeast infection, I am still urinating at least every 3 hours. My doctor ordered a urine test a few days ago and I am awaiting results. Meantime I found that He prescribed Calcitrol several months ago and my pharmacy never filled the prescription. Could this be contributing to my horrorible problem? Thank you, YYYY@YYYY .

Brief Answer:
Infectious cause should be ruled out

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome

I appreciate your concern

Calcium and vitamin D deficiency in the form of missed calcitriol is unlikely to be related to the symptoms.

An infectious cause should be looked for as evident from the urine tests that have been ordered. A urinalysis or urine microscopy result is available within a few hours while culture results take longer. Do inquire about availability of the reports as they will determine the choice of antibiotics.

If there is no infectious cause then urodynamic studies and an ultrasound abdomen pelvis should be done to look for other causes in consultation with your doctor.

wishing you best of health

Thanks
