Hello!

Welcome on - Ask a Doctor - service!

I understand your concern and would agree with you that it seems to be a somehow mission impossible: finding anti-hypertensive medications without any exerted adverse effects.

I think that the best strategy to follow would be trying an anti-hypertensive scheme with combinations offering low component doses in order to achieve the desirable therapeutic effect and minimizing potential adverse effects.

For example you could try a combination of an ACEI like Ramipril 2.5 mg - 5 mg, Perindopril 2 mg - 4 mg, or Zofenopril 30 mg, etc. and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg daily.

Other schemes could be tried as well, like Lercanidipine 5 mg - 10 mg (which shows less adverse effects compared wit hAmlodipine) and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 mg.

So, we can start at low daily doses for minimizing adverse effects.

Whichever be the therapeutic option it is necessary to closely monitor for possible adverse effects. It is important to to properly discern between real adverse drug effects and other causes of such manifestations.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above mentioned issues.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
