default
Posted on Mon, 17 Jan 2022
Question: My daughter is 2.5 months old and she's been puking milk (breast fed) a little more than normal for the past one week. We consulted a paediatric doctor who said it was common and gave domstal drops. However the puking hasn't stopped but my daughter has stopped gaining weight since then. she's constant at 4.3kgs. Can someone please share some insights and prescribe a diet or medicines or treatments?

Brief Answer:
She needs proper burping after the feed

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I have read your query and understand your concern towards your daughter's health.

Puking a little milk is normal. I agree with the pediatric doctor, and his treatment. If the puking hasn't stopped, it most likely seems like she is not properly burping after being breastfed. Please burp your baby correctly and well after every feed. Also, burp her in between switching your breasts for feeding. If you follow correct breastfeeding position, and correct burping technique, your baby will soon overcome this problem. Babies tend to lose weight in the first 4 to 6 months of age, so please don't worry.

There is no special diet for babies until first 6 months of age except for one and only exclusive breast feeding. She does not need additional medicine or treatments except for Domstal drops occasionally.

Hope I have been of some help to you. Please let me know about your further queries.

Regards,
