Question: Tell me doctor, I have mild AS and mild calcified aortic valve. My recent echocardiograph can be uploaded. I am very anxious. Does this progress slowly? What else can I do to help myself? I am numb with anxiety...I will, be followed at Montreal Heart Institute. I understand Crestor can slow it down....

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome on - Ask a Doctor - sevice!

I passed carefully through your medical history and uploaded blood lipid profile abd would like to explain that your actual clinical conditions are almost normal. You should know that at your age a large proportion of individuals have certain degrees of aortic valve calcification and not rarely some degree of stenosis as well.

You have just a mild degree of aortic stenosis and if you maintain a favorable situation of risk factors (like a good control of blood pressure values, a normal lipid profile, avoid close smoking contacts) the progression to higher degrees of stenosis would be quite slow and no important clinical implications would derive even after 2 or 3 decades.

So you shouldn't worry too much about those actual echo findings.

Your current blood lipid profile seems perfect and you are actually on antihypertensive therapy as well.

I would just recommend you keeping such a healthy lifestyle and following periodic medical controls.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

In case of any further questions, feel free to ask me again.

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
