Question: Hi i have had one loose bowel movement a day its partially formed just soft with mucus and undigested food. Lasted 3 days so far is this gastro? I have been constipated for a week and not sure if this is classed as diarrhea
Brief Answer:
Yes it was gastroenteritis caused due to virus very likely.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Yes most likely its gastroenteritis, usually gastroenteritis is by viral infection(Nova virus) and is self limiting,Takes three to five days. Both loose stools or constipation could be a part of it.So what you had is called viral gastroenteritis.
For the time being, I'd suggest to drink more water, take probiotics and oral rehydration salts (O.R.S) to replete the sodium and potassium lost in stools.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
follow up.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again dear patient,
Maxolon and zofran are both very safe drugs and are therefore over the counter however in some cases maloxon can cause mild constipation.
If it has stopped then no need to worry however you can take a probiotic for few days for proper digestion of food.
Thanks.
