More information needed

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I understand your concern, however I need more information in order for me to give an accurate answer.
Do you suffer from any health conditions? Do you experience any headaches on a regular basis? Do you have any dizziness or ear problems? Would you have a picture of the “burn hole” you mention? Was it hurtful or just a rash?

I will be waiting for your answers.

Hello Dr.
The only health issue is hypothyroid for which I take synthroid. I didn’t take a picture of the burn hol, but it was definitely not a rash. It was a perfectly symmetrical. Small hole.

Brief Answer:
Episodic cranial sensory shock

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have to admit this was a very peculiar case and I had to do some research about it. It turns out that a loud pop in the head or short, loud, unreal noises are attributed to a condition called Episodic Cranial Sensory Shock, otherwise known as Exploding Head Syndrome. This usually manifests during sleep and can cause a lot of distress and agitation.
The causes are not yet fully understood, but it is believe that it may either be due to small seizures in the temporal lobe, ear problems, disturbances in the XXXXXXX sleep, stress and anxiety or discontinuation of antidepressant drugs.
Treatment also depends on the most probable cause.
If you experience other episodes, I recommend you talk to your doctor to discuss the possible causes mentioned above and work out the treatment that best works for you.
As for the hole you mention, I am not quite sure what it is, but it was probably trauma from getting scared of the episode.

I hope this answer was satisfactory. I would be glad to answer any further questions you might have.

Take care.
