Question: Hi Doctor, I have the query for my mother. She is having the symtomps like fits from last couple of months. First time it happened before 6 months and then after 2 months and now it's happening once or sometimes in a week. All of a sudden, she is having dizziness and becoming subconscious for couple of seconds and falling down, she has sense during that time. During that time, her body is shaking. Many times it has happened while lying to bed after having food. She is having dizziness most of the time and she is feeling some kind of disturbance around the left ear. It's paining sometimes. I have got the suggestion from another doctor to consult with ENT specialist doctor. Could you please suggest?

Brief Answer:
Dizziness with loss of consciousness

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Symptoms of dizziness can be due to ear cause or some neurological cause.
Dizziness due to ear disease is usually associated with hearing difficulty or ringing in the ears.
Fits or seizures or any loss of consciousness is never found in ear disease unless there is some neurological involvement.
As you are saying she is having some discomfort around the Ear along with these symptoms, there can be some mass in the neck causing such symptoms. Age related cerebral atrophy can also cause such symptoms.
My advise is you should get her ears examined by an Ent specialist and get a MRI done as per findings.
I will suggest you to consult a neurologist too.
Please tell me what medicines has she been taking so far?
Any further questions are always welcome.
Take care
Thanks and regards
