Hello. In The Beginning Of November I Had A Bad

Question: hello. In the beginning of November I had a bad case of the flu. It lasted about 9 days. I had a cough the lingered for weeks. During this time, I developed pain on my lower rib on the right side and slightly on the left side. The pain was only when i coughed, sneezed or touched the specific area. I went to the doctor and had an xray on 12/6. My lungs were clear and they said it was muscular. After a week, the right sided pain went away, but the right side got worse. Now I still have pain on one right rib. If I press it all the way from side to front it hurts. It seemed to be getting better a few days ago, but yesterday I sneezed really hard and now the pain is back to where it was. There is no pain unless I cough, sneeze or bend funny. My questions are: should I have another xray done and also how should i treat this if it is muscular. Thanks!

Also the pain is low, at one of the very bottom ribs not attached to the sternum.

Brief Answer:
Hi,

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I do not think that you are required any X-Ray now. By the history, also,it appears to be muscular pain of the area, due to irritating cough or sneezing etc. As,you do not have any new symptom or fever etc. ,hence in my opinion all you need to do is- giving rest to muscles by avoiding heavy activities & exercises. If you are having more cough, which may making the pain worse, then a cough supressant may give relief to symptoms. Still OTC pain relieving drugs like tylenol or advil may be taken for symptomatic relief.-
Hope,I answer to your query. Wishing you a good health,
