My Dad Is 93 Years Old. And After A Bone

Question: my dad is 93 years old. and after a bone marrow test it showed he is making too much white blood cells. why is this happening? And is there anything he can do to stop it and why is it a bad thing?

So a marrow examination itself can tell whether it is an infection of cancer. The additional test will depend upon the marrow examination results.

What tests should be done to find out if its an infection or cancer.
They have actually told him they will check again in a few months.
Shouldn't something be done now or do you think its ok to wait. Both diagnosis
seem scary enough to do something now.?
