What Causes Redness Of Skin And Joints Pain While Suffering From Fever?

Hi, I started with a low grade fever on Sunday. Monday morning I noticed that my skin was red and blotchy. The fever continued until Tuesday Morning. The next day i woke up with achy joints. it is now friday and I still have achy joints. I just took my temperature and it s at 99.1. Any clues as to what I am dealing with?

Hello,

There can be many reasons for low-grade fever with joint pains and skin rashes. It can be due to infections like dengue fever, chikungunya fever, or simply non-specific viral fever with arthritis. In most of these cases, you have a low-grade fever with body aches and rashes. Besides, there can sometimes be diseases like rheumatic fever which can be associated with a throat infection and they can present like this and may also have fast heart rate or chest pain.

Besides these common ones, there are other bacterial or parasites diseases which can cause such symptoms. Some collagen vascular diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus etc., or endocrine diseases like hypothyroidism / hyperthyroidism or parathyroid disorders can also cause such symptoms. So first of all you must keep a watch on the progression of the symptoms and keep a watch on bleeding from any site. Usually, if it is a viral episode it will subside in a few days. if needed you can take medication to relieve fever.

However, if you feel that the symptoms are not getting controlled then you must get yourself investigated like complete blood count, blood film, dengue antigen, ESR, thyroid test, and rheumatoid factor. This will help us to make a proper diagnosis and plan the treatment accordingly.
I hope your question is answered adequately.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
