What Causes Throat And Ear Pain After Taking Alka Selzer For Chest And Stomach Pain?
This morning I had stomach acid travel up my esophagus to the back of my throat. I have been plagued by a sore throat and Eustachian tubes all day. I ve also experienced mild chest pain which I directly relate to the acid. This morning I took my olmeprozole 20 mgs (taken BID) as well as my prozac (20 mgs q day), omega 3-6-9 capsules as well as vitamin D3 (4000mg), vitamin E and my women s silver centrum vitamin. Once I got to work (aprox 3 hrs after taking the above) I took 2 Alka Seltzer relief chews to hopefully settle my stomach and mild chest pain. About 2 hrs ago I took another Alka seltzer chew. Now 12 hrs later my throat and ears are still hurting. Can I take some gaviscon to coat my throat and esophagus? I have also bought thin Popsicles to hopefully help my throat.

Rebound hyper-acidity is one differential diagnosis, you may use other antacids or H2 blocker like Ranitidine 150mg PO q12hr or 300mg PO.
