Hello Nageswari
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
TIFFA scan is called Targetted Imaging For Fetal Anomalies.
This scan is routinely done for all pregnant women at 18 - 20 weeks of pregnancy.
It helps in detection of any abnormalities in the fetus.
The timing is important because this is the time when all major organ systems in the baby are formed.
If any particular problem is detected, then abortion also is legally allowed in India only upto 20 weeks.
This is a routine testing for all pregnant women.
Make sure it is done at a good centre.
Do not worry as it is not something out of the normal .
IT is an expected procedure.
All the best.
Take care.
