Will Duoluton L Postpone My Periods After Crossing My Period Date?

Hi doctor,
Iam 21 and my name is vidya.
iam having a doubt that will DUOLUTON L will postpone my periods after crossing my period date?
Because last time I got my period on 26th and I didn't get till now and I want to postpone it for One week as iam having my engagement. .
pls help me with your answer

Hi,

Duoluton-L contains 2 hormones: levonorgestrel (a progestin) and ethinyl estradiol (an estrogen) and is commonly prescribed to prevent an unwanted pregnancy and in the treatment of irregular periods. To postpone the periods, it is best taken within the first five days of periods, however it can be started after the periods also. But if you keep delaying the date of tablets too close to the date of periods, you may get your periods as your hormones will not get suppressed. Have one tablet at night now onwards for one week and without a break and you will get your period 2 to 3 days after stopping the tablet however, the time scale may be different for every individual.
