Wrist Injury, Painful, Stiffness, Using Brace, X-ray Showed No Broken Bones

I currently have had a wrist injury on my left hand , it aches and is stiff, if I move my thumb inward it feels like it is pulling a muscle or if I lift something backwards I lose strength in the hand and it is excruciating pain. I did go to the doctor but they only gave me a brace, xray s showed no broken bones. I have had the injury since Feb 2012 and I dont recall falling or injuring the wrist.
