Diagnosed With NSIP/ILD, Being Administered With Wyslone, ABphyline. Swelling In Face, Weight Increase. Reasons ?

My wife has been diagnosed with NSIP/ILD. She is being administered with ABphyline, HCQS, Luminec, Calcium , Beneficial, Sanpraz D and Perifinex. She was also administered with Wyslone with which she had swelling in the face and weight increase. Doctor advised her to cut this Wyslone. She is often feeling breathless and she has decreased her activities for the same purpose. Her case is going bad to worst. I want to ask if she has threat to life. Please suggest any other thing so that she can lead a good life.

Dear friend, welcome and thanks for entrusting your query here at Healthcaremagic!
I am Dr. Prasad Akole (Critical Care Expert- http://bit.ly/Dr-Prasad-Akole) and am glad to address to your query here.

Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) needs steroids as treatment (wysolone here).
It was stopped for its unwanted side-effects of weight gain and facial swelling.
Progressive breathlessness is due to disease progression.
It can get serious and life threatening as oxygen deficit increases progressively.
I would advise you to see a good pulmonologist, get her re-evaluated, check oxygen, carbon dioxide levels (in ABG), see if she needs home oxygen (LTOT-long term oxygen therapy).
Some patients with severe symptoms may benefit by home NIV (non-invasive ventilation).
I think she needs admission and titration to optimal therapy. Also heart needs evaluation for the degree of right heart overload and the need for pulmonary vasodilators.
Please discuss all these with the expert.

It would greatly help if you could upload any additional info/ reports here using the uploading service available on this site just below the text box. You can email the reports / scans to
