Need To Get Quick Opinion On A Procedure Of The Pudental Nerve In Genital Area

default
Posted on Fri, 17 May 2024
Question: Dr. just need to get your quick opinion on a procedure before I have it done. I still have that occasional stinging and burning on the one side of the pudental nerve in genital area. Since it all involves the nerves, I know u would be the one to give the best advice since a gyno will be doing these injections. He said before trying steroids or a botox injection, he wants to try PRP injection where they draw your own blood, separate the platelets and inject into affected area. My family doctor feels this is far safer than either steroids or botox considering the sensitive area he is injecting but did say that he has heard this can calm the nerve or conversely may cause damage so just wanted to check with u on risk factor.

Brief Answer:
I would explain as follows.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

I have read your new question concerning platelet-rich plasma injection for symptoms of an injured pudendal nerve.

This type of injection and therapy (i.e. PRP injection) is safe and has minimal possible adverse effects for symptom relief regarding peripheral nerve dysfunction.

The chances of nerve damage are hypothetic and may be linked to direct injury from the injection.

So, in conclusion, I think you should accept this treatment possibility.

I hope this helps.

feel free to ask if you have further questions.

Take care.
