Question: Since we talked, I had 3stents put in my "widow-maker artery. I was put on plavex and Lipitor. I was back to exercising etc when I fainted, bruising my right ribs. I fainted again the same day and my family put me in the hospital where it was discovered my blood thinner was causing undiagnosed ulcers to bleed. After being prescribed iron and ulcer meds my numbers are improving, but the blood test reveals a high sodium count. What is a good count? And what else can I do after I've already cut added salt from my diet?

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I am sorry to hear that you have experienced the most common complications of antithrombotic therapy!

Regarding normal sodium values, I would explain that its normal ranges vary from 135 to 145 mEq/L.

You should know that the main cause of high sodium levels is dehydration.

For this reason, I would recommend taking plenty of water during the day, besides salt intake reduction.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!
